Sleeping Buddies

When Rick travels the little kids like to have a "sleep-over" in my bed.

These two are best buddies, and make me wish all my children were spaced closer together in age. This is how I found them, when I went up to bed.

Cozy!

Double Brrrr.

Rebekah is in the ski club at school this year. She wanted to join last year, but when she brought the information home, all the trips (but one) were on Sundays, so she couldn't do it.

Did that stop Bek? No, she lobbied the teachers in charge & had all the trips for this year changed to Saturday. I'm really very proud of her.

I'm happy for her to get extra skiing time in so she can improve, and that it will be fun for her to ski with her friends. They go to different ski areas in NY and surrounding states, so I'm also glad she'll get to see which places she likes & make recommendations for days we go as a family.

Only one drawback - it's VERY cold in NY in the winter.
Today they are skiing at Belleayre and this is the e-mail we got from the teacher in charge yesterday -

Please dress in layers and wear face protection.  Frost Bite conditions possible for Saturday's Trip.

Forecast:

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 15. Wind chill values as low as -9.
Northwest wind between 9 and 11 mph.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 0. Wind chill values as low as -9.

Northwest wind between 5 and 7 mph.

See you all tomorrow.

Yes - the HIGH is 15 degrees. (Remember, my Australian readers - 32 is freezing.)
I dropped her off at the school at 5am this morning and just helping her to the bus & walking back to the car made my nose sting with the cold.

Have  a fun day Rebekah. Stay warm!

Brrrrrrr

It's Rebekah's birthday today, so we let her sleep in & miss early morning seminary. Since it means a later morning & longer in a warm bed for US, we didn't need that much convincing.
Rick however, still had to get the 6:20am train to work.

Here's the e-mail I sent him after the big girls had gone to school -

OH, I'm so glad I'm not you today. I am very happy to be staying in
this warm house until I take the kids to pre-school! Thanks for going to work for us!

The reply I received -

I regret to inform you that your husband froze to death on the way to the
train station.  We are currently asking for volunteers
to come forward and brave the cold in order to pry his frozen corps from
the sidewalk.
