Jane Potter

Guess who got a scratch on her head playing with friends?

She couldn't be more delighted because now she looks "JUST" like Harry Potter. She keeps referring to it as "my scar" - thankfully she doesn't know how to turn it into a real scar!

Cub Scout Library Visit

For Cub Scouts this week we took the boys to the library.

I love that Jacob made a bee line for the fish tank, got a chair & parked himself there.
That boy sure loves fish!

He did eventually do the things to fulfill the "go to the library" requirement and picked out some books to take home. One about dinosaurs and three about .... fish!

I love being Jacob's Cub Scout leader & being able to be with him for Cubs.

Father's & Sons

Our church has an annual Father's and Son's camp out.
It is bigger than Christmas for Jacob - he LOVES it and looks forward to it all year.

It's been raining here like crazy for weeks. It's driving me crazy because it's really delaying our landscaping and all the mud is constantly tracked into the house. Really. Our mud room was never so appropriately named!

Around 5:30am I woke suddenly to a GIGANTIC, very LOUD thunder clap. Oh boy, I thought, Jane will be in here any minute. Sure enough a minute later I heard our door knob jiggle & then a little knock. Rick went to open the door but it was Jacob who came in sobbing. As I pulled him into our bed and snuggled him under the covers I said "What's the matter buddy? Did you have a bad dream?" "They're going to cancel Father's and Sons" he sobbed back. Poor little guy had woken to the storm and that's the first thing he thought of. He LOVES Father's and Sons. "Don't worry" I reassured him, "they said 'Rain or shine. You can still go." Comforted he fell asleep.

When we got up a little later and went down to breakfast, Rick told us it had in fact been cancelled. Bummer.

It was Hawaiian Day at school - but didn't feel it in the cool wet temperatures. We got ready and took the kids to school. Rick had taken the day off for Father's and Sons and decided to still stay home and try and work on the shelving in our food storage room.

I got myself ready and headed out to Colonial day at Emily's school - which had been moved inside because of the weather.

After school we went to the Art Fair. It was useful having Rick home, since I was volunteering there, I went early at he met me later with the kids. Since i rushed out to volunteer, I forgot my camera. I snapped a few pics with my phone instead.

Since Father's and Sons was cancelled we decided to have hot dogs for dinner and make S'mores over the stove. Not quite the same but I think it helped soften the blow a little.

We had also finished reading the first Harry Potter book a while before and were waiting to find a Friday night (our Family Movie Night) to watch the movie. Given the night was now free, we all watched that together. Not such a bad day after all.

Riding Lessons

Jane has been insanely in love with horses since she was a baby. Our town offered a beginner riding course through the recreation department, so we decided to give it a try. Here is her first lesson.

Arriving at the stables.

Her pony was called Lacey :)

They have a double fence, so this is as close as I could get for photo's, darn it.

She was IN LOVE.

Check out that smile!

Teaching them to lean forward for jumping.

I am really impressed that they actually teach them.
It's not a pony ride, it really is a lesson.

Here's to many more happy riding days Jane.
So happy to make your dreams come true little girl!
