Westward Ho - Day Two

Cleveland, Ohio to Chicago, Illinois.

So, we woke up to a beautiful clear blue morning in Cleveland. Jane was somber, but no fever and seemed much more like herself. She sat in bed while we all showered & got ready & drank chocolate soy milk & watched "Diego" - now that's a vacation!

I decided I like Cleveland, and maybe we'll go there for a long weekend some time in the future. The city is very clean, but I kept thinking "It's Monday morning, where are all the people?"

Rick & Rebekah wanted to go to the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, but I knew the little kids wouldn't be up for that, so we dropped them off and headed to visit our friends Sarah & Malcolm. We played at their house for a while - it's super cute and has beautiful gardens. They've been working on it (aren't we all) and have done a great job.

Then I went back to get Rick & Rebekah, so we could all meet back up again for lunch. I was using the GPS and went back on a different road than I had come on. Before I new it, flashing lights were behind me. Despite the fact that I was an obvious visitor (out of state plates & licence) and had never been on that road before, I got a ticket. I'm a little bummed, because I haven't had a ticket in over 15 years. Who would have guessed the speed limit on that FIVE LANE road was only 25 miles per hour??? Oh well, I crept at a snails pace after that, and it was the only down point of our day in Cleveland.

We met back up with Sarah & Malcolm at a playground, and had a very yummy lunch from Presti's. It was a great place for the kids to stretch their legs and tire themselves out before getting back in the car.

Jane just saw this picture as I loaded it and said "There's Malc-man."

We headed for Chicago about 3pm. Jane fell asleep in the car, but didn't sleep for as long as I thought she would. After she woke up she started to cry "hold me" or "get me out" and kicked my seat. Despite my patting her legs, holding her hand, and trying to comfort her, she kept it up for 4 hours.

I have never been so happy to see a Burger King Play-place in all my life. We stopped for "dinner" which was pretty much a bite of salad each, and then off to play.

We saw a bunny by the side of the parking lot.

That made our little miss happier!

Soon, they were out cold.

Well, we had one hold-out, but he fell asleep before long too.

We arrived in Chicago, and carried them into the motel still sleeping. Whew!
