Jacob wakes up early. Really early - usually between 5:30am & 6am. He always has. I used to compensate by making sure he got to bed nice and early too, but now that he is in school and with after school activities (mostly Emily's swimming) we are often not home until later.
Tonight after dinner & baths I sat him at the table to do his homework and ran to pop Jane into bed.
I came back a few minutes later to find him like this. Out cold.
I'm working on ways to try & get him to sleep a bit later in the morning - so far all unsuccessful!

Oh bless him! I wonder if he is up making noise when he wakes, or does he read quietly? I wouldn't mind him waking early as long as he didn't wake me too!!!
I wish he were quiet. He wakes me up asking for food! I send him downstairs to "play quietly" and he is back in minutes to ask for something, tell me something or ask again for food. He usually ends up waking me, Jane, Millie & often Emily. I'm about ready to sell him to the gypsies if he can't stay in bed a bit later!
It is one of life's great mysteries that tired kids will still get out of bed in the morning. I struggle with that one too (only not that early, thankfully).
I have a dog that's awake around that time, too. Or earlier. Sometimes he's whining from around 2am but he used to sleep through so I've no idea what the problem is. I also have Ben who can't get to sleep easily. Between the pair of them, I get about 5 hours interrupted sleep every night.
Don't tell me that. Hayden wakes at around 6 most mornings, sometimes earlier and I thought as he gets older he'll sleep longer. By the way, I love Jake's hair.
Tara - I love his hair too. He has the best hair in our family - so thick & healthy & shiny (unusual for so blonde.) When Mum was here she told me several times to cut it .... I'm not going to. I care more about his hair than I do the girls!
